As a quick explanation of Mayoi's background, because the wiki has none of it, and it's important for things mentioned in this app: Mayoi is a member of a clan of people that were forced underground in some unstated era pre-dating the koseki. They live just under Yumenosaki, though it's unclear how deep and far the Ayase tunnels go, but it's important because as a result, Mayoi and his family do not have valid identification. Under Japanese law, they do not exist or have rights and if they were to be discovered, it would be bad news. This informs a lot of Mayoi's behavior.
Mayoi's stay in Austice was. Bad. Early on, Mayoi was nearly mauled to death by possessed demon dogs when his close friend and his brother accidentally disturbed the grounds by burying a body. The dogs also dragged off a friend into the woods never to be seen again. Mayoi also tried to summon a demon to try and save one of his unitmates from being devoured by the hell-hole in the town and instead nearly lost MORE of his important people.
He spent a week under the bed in a catatonic state after that one. Basically, Mayoi has suffered, and as a result, he's had to accept these tragedies and find a means to keep going.

✽ What is your character's main motivation? What drives them and keeps them going?
Mayoi has a few different motivations. He fears loneliness with every fiber of his being, and his wish to be heard and seen when his upbringing and existence had taught him he were subhuman and invisible, is something that pulled him out of the depths. However, Mayoi's central motivation, of which all of this can be traced back to is far simpler.
Mayoi wishes for happiness, and that is why he pursues his dreams of being an idol. Why he defied centuries of banishment and generational trauma, and risks everything he knows and understands. It's all for a shot at finding true happiness while standing with the ground beneath his feet.
✽ What is their biggest regret? Why?
Probably one of the bigger, lingering regrets Mayoi has is that early on when they were deciding who would lead their unit, Mayoi immediately refused any of the responsibility, claiming he could not handle such a position, and as a result, the job got pushed onto Hiiro, who knew so little about what Idols even were, it put a lot of responsibility on someone who would be his Junior. Mayoi has stated he wishes that even though Hiiro turned into a fantastic leader and no one would trade him for anything, that Mayoi had at least considered the option and not taken the choice away from Hiiro altogether. He has also stated that he wishes he could have the chance to talk to Hiiro about their background, since he feels as though they have a lot in common, but he simply never got up the courage to do so. Now, he may never have the chance.
✽ What is their worst fear? Their greatest comfort?
Mayoi fears loneliness, and losing everything he has worked for up to this point. Even more so, he fears returning to his previous existence, of being banished into the dark, under the surface, and becoming once more a person who just doesn't exist. To him, that is a fate far worse than death.
His greatest comfort really is the people in his life. Mayoi simply did not understand that he could be worthy of love from others until he met his unit, and the other people he's come to know. It is through them, that he's learned to be human, and that he strives to better himself.

Mayoi isn't just genuinely talented, he's an incredibly hard worker, who will never do anything half-way. Once he set his mind to becoming an idol, he taught himself everything all on his own, and managed to get into one of the most prestigious schools in the country.
He's also intelligent and detail-oriented. He's someone who finds comfort in organizing and planning. He is also smart enough to take a look at a list of ingredients and figure out how to cook a dish he's never made before. He is a problem solver and a tinkerer on top of everything else.
Despite how it looks, Mayoi is actually incredibly brave. Pursuing his dreams of being an idol took him leaving home and everything he has ever known, to make his way in a world that is utterly foreign to him, constantly having to cope with these differences is a struggle he is always battling against. Not to mention that if he's ever discovered, he risks putting his entire clan in danger. He's under an enormous amount of pressure at all times, and yet he continues.

Mayoi has some extremely crippling anxiety. A lot of it is a side-effect of his upbringing. Having grown up solely around his clan underground, having to suddenly adjust with living in Tokyo, and having a very public facing profession is actually super hard on him, so a lot of the time Mayoi will do everything in his power to avoid conversations or interactions with strangers to the point of climbing into a ceiling to escape. He is also just incredibly jumpy in general, and is easy to startle.
Mayoi's upbringing is also a big reason why he has such an inferiority complex. Mayoi will frequently refer to himself as sub-human, insult himself almost as a compulsion, and acts genuinely distressed and confused when he is treated with kindness and love. This is because his clan has lived for centuries with the understanding that they are underground for the sole reason of being "weak", and that is simply what they are.
Finally, Mayoi is actually in poor health. He's unable to handle sunlight for large periods of time, he has fainted in crowds of people, and been bed ridden as a result. His constitution is dicey and his diet reflects this with eating bland, light foods or eating very little. He actually says that a reason he grows his own tea is that it's easier for his palette to handle.

He does not remember who he spoke this too, or what happened afterwards. Only that he abruptly woke up here instead. (Insert the Mayoi who apped in after I dropped who found himself covered in the remains of Mayoi's soul gem. Ho ho ho implications)

Abilities: Mayoi is for the most part a normal human, despite what he says about himself. As far as his abilities go, Mayoi is the trainer for his idol unit. He can organize training schedules, cater idol training to each person uniquely, and teach choreography he has only just learned himself.
He has also gained some knowledge in magic and witchcraft as a result of his stay in Austice, helping the Amagis summon a demon by borrowing and memorizing a book on summoning. So, that's cool.
