Mayoi is sitting in a dark lounge, the smell of teak wood and paper strong. Across the room a fire flickers, but Mafuyu leans against him, heavy as a corpse (cold as a corpse, too), so he couldn't possibly move, right? Right.
It's quiet, and it may be peaceful if not for the feeling that everything outside of this room is gone.

and then a man sits on his other side, one arm draped across his shoulders. He's tall, with long, sleek black hair and dark skin marred with silver and gold scars- the silver always comes in sets of five. He's almost handsome, if not for the disdain dripping off him as he smiles, almost sweetly, and holds up a certain gem.
"Beautiful, isn't it? Shame for the fool's cracks. I'd love to keep it. ... Not that you could possibly stop me. Ourania's chosen a fool and a coward, if she truly expects anything...
Do be careful, little priest."
When Mayoi awakens, his soul gem is on the windowsill, and the window itself is wide open. Regardless of where he's been keeping it, or if the window was locked at all.
[Mayoi is getting a letter from not-dad under his door, written in Flamebringer's scrawl.]
Hey. Need a favour. It's nothing intense, just a thing from Ydalir. Drop by the inn lobby some time this evening. It'll take five minutes or so, promise.
[....?????? That's so sudden and startling Mayoi is anxious about it mostly on reflex, but... It's Flamebringer...]
[If he was asked, it must be important, right? There are so many other people here that would probably be better for literally any task... ah, now he is curious.]
[So here he will be, on time and waiting in the lobby, just as FB requested. He will be sitting near the fire.]
[Great, he loves fire— anyway, here he comes, wearing a jacket and having trudged in from outside. The snow starts to melt as soon as he gets near the fire, for a blessing.]
Hey. Sorry about the note, I know you're the jittery sort. This won't take that long. Ydalir needs stuff for her magic to work... [Ugh, but he should explain.] I was going to ask Ezell to marry me, and I designed him a ring, but Ydalir can't actually make it with her magic until I've done stuff for her. She said to go around telling people stuff I like about 'em... so I picked you.
[He is hit with SO MUCH SO FAST, it takes him a moment to really get his head around what FB is here for. Oh! He wants to ask that Ezell fellow to marry him! That's exciting! There is a lot of work to prep for such a thing, his mind starts to wonder what he could possible want to ask him about- Maybe something to do with the shrine or the ceremony?]
[But then Mayoi feels the screech of tires and the impact of the wall when FB just says it. He's here to say things he likes about him.]
[Five minutes worth.]
I-I think if you spend an entire five minutes saying things like that I might perish.
( the wind and snow has been battering at all sides since midnight, she's sure of it. so as the daylight finally sheds... some light, mafuyu scoops up the deernicorn gently, watching out the window before she closes the curtains to try and keep some heat in. )
[This storm ...it's quite terrible, isn't? The Nest had it's share of nasty winter storms, but this is starting to worry him. He doesn't think the integrity of the shrine is at stake, but trying to keep the fires lit...]
[He's been trying to get his nerves up to ask Ydalir about enchanting the fireplaces here ...but... will it be enough?]
[Mayoi has been fussing with the fire this entire time, as if watching it will ensure it stays burning.]
-Ah.
[At his name, though, he will turn to look at Mafuyu.]
With this blizzard- would it be safer to move back to the inn for a bit, just... in case? A lot of us are rather disconnected, and traveling even short distances in this weather could be perilous if an emergency happens...
I think ...I-I think that would be safest. We may lose our chance if we wait much longer.
[But there is something on his mind and he looks towards the windows, worrying at his lip.]
...It feels like abandoning a post, however. To leave the shrine ...what if someone loses their way and needs help finding the town...? Ourania-sama said that one of my duties would be to guide those who are lost.
( mafuyu had left to try and brave the world for groceries and supplies. she returns empty handed, pale and wringing her hands together as soft, mechanical voices whisper reassurances from her pocket.
[He was busy plotting out their meals for the week! It is a good and busy thing for him to do because he craves domesticity like nothing else. Ah, there's Mafuyu now.]
Oi, walking grape soda - where you going? [ Bakugo clicks his tongue and follows after him rather suddenly. Forcibly attempting to shove two plates into Mayoi's face - ] Come eat this and tell me which is the best.
Stop stuttering your words. [ He steps closer, following right behind him if he's power-walking away. Two plates held in either hand. ] I am literally not going to kill you. So come eat your fucking breakfast.
[ One might think a new place, a new situation that Aira would be much slower to relax and find his comfort here. Certainly that is the case outside the shrine but inside it, its as though Aira peels away that sweet, anxious outer layer and lets his real personality loose.
Comical really. This is a shrine, he should be more polite here. Wherever Mayoi is, he hears a long suffering sigh before little arms are wrapped around him. Clearly he has been annoyed by something. ]
[Mayoi is reading a book to one of the hatchlings. What book? Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. This is an appropriate book to read to a child. He knows because he read it as a child-]
Eh?
[Oh, he has an Aira, suddenly.]
Aira-saaaan, welcome home...! Ah... [Cute. he is cute when annoyed.] Is something the matter?
[He startles, but he only startles a little. He's a creature, but he knows Ourania-sama's voice very well, and so he settles down instantly, glancing around a little.]
A-Ah, yes of course!
[He will not waste time! He is a very punctual little Moon Priest. Mayoi gathers up his robes and skedaddles to which ever statue is closest.]
There's a soft bell-like sound of an amused chuckle, and when he takes his seat, the room shifts- they're in Ourania's room now, the Goddess sitting in a proper chair to rest instead of being bedridden for once. She smiles fondly, and beckons him to sit with her.
My priest. The times have been hard this year, have they not? I have an idea that may help lift some spirits, though. It's an old ritual and celebration my followers used to do, once upon a time.
[Ah, he feels like being in such a place will disintegrate him on the spot. He almost waits for it, being that he is him, and this is a holy, godly place. After a moment his heart settles once more and he tries to compose himself.]
[He is Ourania-sama's Priest, and he has been for SOME TIME, it's okay. He's okay. Breathe in and out. Okay.]
[He sits down.]
Ah...yes. I- P-Please forgive me, as I've failed so far to put together a solstice. We've had many come and go and I fear the forest's abhorrence to time is making my skin break out in stress- ah but!!
[He's rambling! To a Goddess!! He pulls on his hair a little bit to ground himself.]
That i-isn't an excuse of course! I will be happy to hear out anything you have i-in mind!
